I absolutely love this story, what could be better? hundreds of the dreaded and evil hosted by the White House that hates them. check out the story from the NYT.
we all know by this point what the main issue during the 2006 elections will be.....Immigration. But lets be honest this is not an immigration issue this is a fear and racism issue. we have to the north the largest un-protected border in the world. There are several thousand miles where nothing is stopping people from crossing over our border with Canada, not even natural barriers; rivers, mountains. Just a friendly marker or two.
Now lets consider our southern border, Barbwire, hundreds of square miles of desert, armed guards(and civilians), rivers, Etc.. slightly more daunting wouldn't you say.
If you wanted to cross a border safely and undetected which would you
choose?
But hold on The 9/11 hijackers came into this country legally, with visas for
Christ sake. This is not an issue with border safety 5 years after our last
domestic terrorist attack, this is an issue of fear, and the Neo Cons are
masters of harnessing the American fear and riding it to power.
The last people who want Terrorist crossing the border between
and The US are Mexicans. They know that the border would be snapped shut faster
than a bear trap, and with it their hopes of a better life.
Furthermore if you want to see this country and its economy shut down,
deport those infamous 11 million Mexican illegals in the states. you will have
a hell of a time getting food cooked in a restaurant, meat delivered in your
grocery, fruit in your home, or your lawn mowed. This country depends on the
work of Latin American immigrants.
don't let the power wealthy use the immigration issue to scare you the way they did with duct tape and plastic sheeting. This is not an issue of security, its an issue of fear and racism.
For a different take on the issue Take a look at what Jesus' General has to say on the subject.
Well after some major reconstruction to my fubar computer I now have the freedom to blog once again and so much has been going on in the past few weeks I just don't know where to begin..........How about a good stand by, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from last night, covered the memo concerning bush's desire to go to war with or without WMD's on march 10th. check out the video

and here is the NYT article in question
Russ Feingold on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Jon proving once again that his brand of news has more value and honesty than any were else
I went and saw the movie last night, I'm a bit of a Natalie Portman Stalker....It was in a word amazing. Blew my mind, no doubt this is my favorite political film of the past year.
The message to me was simple and effective; fear and hatred are the most dangerous qualities of mankind. it was simple, appealing and encompassing.......make sure you see it again and again.
Looks like I will be working 250 days this year to earn my keep. Others will work more, other less. Some work two jobs to make ends meet. Those people will work 365 days this year.
Our members of congress will only work 97 days this year. If they stick to their current schedule — including two weeks off in April, a week in May and July, plus all of August — House members will spend 97 days in Washington this year. The Senate on the other hand will work an extra 14 days bringing their total to 111 days.
To top it all off, the average lawmaker earns $165,200. Leaders earn more. I don’t earn $165,000. It would be nice if I could get a job for $16kK and work less than 100 days.. sweet
In short time the House has been in session, what exactly have they delivered?

Once again proving that a comedy show can give us vastly superior information than the main stream news, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart proves that their is no link between Iraq's IEDs and Iran.........but the white house is under a lot of stress their a little bit fatigued, truth is you can believe anything that the White House tells you is fact checked.................right ?
here is the video.......
Got Debt?
It does not matter who I ask that question to. If you are in debt to your tits, then Senate today handed you more. If you don't owe anybody one red dime, the Senate put you in debt to your tits.
The bill passed by the Senate by a 52-48 vote. The increase to $9 trillion represents about $30,000 for every man, woman and child in the United States. The bill now goes Bush for his signature.

Do you remember in Michael Moore's movie, Fahrenheit 9/11, when the police monitored and infiltrated a bunch of aging hippies in Fresno? Well, it has happened again. In Pittsburgh? So, if your an aging hippie who hates Bush and wants America our of the War, chances are good that the FBI knows about you. Give thanks to the Pentagon program that authorizes eavesdropping by the National Security Agency on domestic communications without court authorization.

Thank god these people are getting burned out. I hope their burnout runs rampant and they are to stupid and stubborn to find replacements. Why? here is yet another reason I have issues with the Bushies.
The secretary of the Homeland Security Department on Tuesday proposed a screening system that would require companies to retain information about their customers but only require them to surrender information filtered by software.
After watching the evolution if the voting machines, and being a a software engineer, this scares the shit out of me.

This is my favorite story that came out over the weekend. A Bush nobody domestic policy advisor named Claude Allen abruptly resigns. You know, "I wanna spend more time with my family" sort of thing. This Allen guy was clever I suppose. Allen was shoplifting in a way I have never ever dreamed of.
Allen was into buying an item in the store, then he takes the item out to the car. Allen returns to the store with receipt and empty bag in hand, picks out the same item, and then ask for a refund. So, this means you basically get the item for free.
I don't walk the moral high ground and I don't claim to be a saint. But, shit.. this is just plain wrong!

Army Sgt. Michael J. Smith faces a court-martial today for the abuses that have gone on at Abu Ghraib. Whether Smith is guilty or not, one thing to keep in mind is that the top commanders approved use of dogs at Abu Ghraib . So this could be the classic case of the Bushies throwing the little guy under the bus.

A woman in north San Diego County is suing her former employer because she claims she got fired for displaying the Air America affiliate (KLSD) bumper sticker on her car.
The suit also alleges that, after seeing the sticker, the employer commented that the woman could be a member of al-Qaida.

Well, since this station is owned by Clear Channel, is Clear Channel a member of al-Qaida? Here is proof as to why some people should not be allowed to breed.

Sixty-two percent is a questionable margin. But, I don't live in Texas, I don't care. Of course Delay had this to say about the primary race:
"Democrat attacks and the politics of personal destruction were heavily used by my opponents in this Republican primary, and they were rejected just like they will be in November," DeLay said in a statement.
DeLay campaigned at carefully orchestrated events, avoided direct interviews with reporters and largely focused on his hometown of Sugar Land. It paid off with a 2-to-1 victory margin over lawyer Tom Campbell, who had ties to the first President Bush's administration, and two other candidates.
According to final but unofficial returns, DeLay scored 20,558 votes, or 62 percent, to Campbell's 9,937, or 30 percent.
Democrat Nick Lampson, who was unopposed in Tuesday's primary, represented a district adjacent to DeLay's for four terms until it was redrawn in a redistricting plan engineered by DeLay. Lampson lost in 2004 to Republican Ted Poe.
Now Lampson will take on Delay and there should be plenty of press to help him along. I for one, don't believe that Delay won his race fair and square. As long as Diebold is in the picture, I personally don't have much hope.

This is my first annual Oscar predictions column, for which I am uniquely qualified by not having seen a single one of the movies nominated in any category. I've never even watched an Oscar ceremony, except once when a friend called me 35 minutes into Halle Berry's acceptance speech and I managed to catch only the last 20 minutes of it.
I shall grant my awards based on the same criteria Hollywood studio executives now use to green-light movies: political correctness. Also, judging by most of the nominees this year, the awards committee prefers movies that are wildly unpopular with audiences.
The box office numbers for this year's favorite, "Brokeback Mountain," are more jealously guarded than the nuclear codes in the president's black box. Hollywood liberals want the government to release everything we know about al-Zarqawi, but refuse to release the number of people who have seen "Brokeback Mountain."
I shall summarize the plots of the five movies nominated for best picture below:
-- "Brokeback Mountain" (gay)
-- "Capote" (death penalty with bonus gay lead)
-- "Crash" (racism)
-- "Good Night, and Good Luck" (McCarthyism)
-- "Munich" (Jew athletes at Munich had it coming)
Everyone says it's going to be "Crash," but I think "Crash" is too popular with filmgoers. Moreover, Hollywood feels it has done enough for the blacks. Hollywood can never do enough for the gays. Gays in the military, gays in the Texas Rangers, gays on the range. It's like a brokeback record! As Pat Buchanan said, homosexuality has gone from "the love that dare not speak its name" to "the love that won't shut up."
Is the idea of gay cowboys really that new? Didn't the Village People do that a couple of decades ago? Am I the only person who saw John Travolta in "Urban Cowboy"?
Movies with the same groundbreaking theme to come:
-- "Westward Homo!"
-- "The Magnificent, Fabulous Seven"
-- "Gunfight at the K-Y Corral"
-- "How West Hollywood Was Won"
OK, back to predictions. The best director award will go to ... Ang Lee, director of "Brokeback Mountain." (For analysis, see above.) Also, this is gays directed by an Asian, which should satisfy the gaysians. Hands down: Ang Lee.
The nominees for best actor in a leading role are:
-- Philip Seymour Hoffman, "Capote"
-- Terrence Howard, "Hustle & Flow"
-- Heath Ledger, "Brokeback Mountain"
-- Joaquin Phoenix, "Walk the Line"
-- David Strathairn, "Good Night, and Good Luck"
The winner in this category will be ... Philip Seymour Hoffman. The awards committee can't give everything to "Brokeback Mountain," and at least Truman Capote was gay (though not a cowboy). I personally would have chosen the lion in the Narnia movie, but he wasn't even nominated.
The nominees for best actress in a leading role are:
-- Judi Dench, "Mrs. Henderson Presents"
-- Felicity Huffman, "Transamerica"
-- Keira Knightley, "Pride & Prejudice"
-- Charlize Theron, "North Country"
-- Reese Witherspoon, "Walk the Line"
I gather Reese Witherspoon is very good in "Walk the Line," but that's irrelevant -- this is the Oscars! Felicity Huffman plays a pre-op transsexual in "Transamerica." That strikes a chord in Hollywood. It's not exactly gay, but close enough! I say Huffman wins.
For best actress in a supporting role, Rachel Weisz ought to win for "The Constant Gardener" because it's about how drug companies are evil, which to me is the essence of quality acting. Plus, English accent equals good acting. But Michelle Williams ("Brokeback Mountain") is engaged to Heath Ledger, who played a gay guy in "Brokeback Mountain." So I pick Weisz, with Williams as the dark-horse favorite.
The best original screenplay will be "Good Night, and Good Luck" as Hollywood's final tribute to the old Stalinists (Hollywood's version of "The Greatest Generation"). George Clooney has been mau-mauing the awards committee by going around boasting that conservatives have called him a "traitor," although I believe the precise term was "airhead."
Finally, my favorite category: best foreign language film. The nominees are:
-- "Don't Tell" (Italy)
-- "Joyeux Noel" (France)
-- "Paradise Now" (Palestine)
-- "Sophie Scholl" (Germany)
-- "Tsotsi" (South Africa)
After consulting with the Yale admissions committee, the awards committee will give the Oscar to ... "Paradise Now," a heartwarming story about Palestinian suicide bombers. How good is it? Al-Jazeera gave it 4 1/2 pipe bombs. It's Air Syria's featured in-flight movie this month -- go figure! I don't want to spoil the ending for you, but let's just say there won't be a sequel.
Normally, the smart money is on the Holocaust movie, so any other year, "Sophie Scholl" would have been the clear favorite. Unfortunately for the makers of "Sophie Scholl," their Holocaust movie came out the same year as a pro-terrorist movie, so they lose.
As a final prediction, for the second year, there will be no mention of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh, who was brutally murdered by an angry Muslim a little over a year ago on the streets of Amsterdam. (Now that's blacklisted!) I also predict this will be the lowest-rated Oscars ever. Remember to turn off your cell phones, no talking ... or sleeping.

and so for a myriad of reasons Mr. Ann Coulter wins today's award for Douchebag of the day.............along with anyone who linked to this hatred, like this guy
Bush announced that he is going to propose legislation that allows him to control spending with the line item veto. Don't get me wrong, I think the line item veto is a good thing.
However, in the mid 90s, back when republicans acted like republicans, Clinton did have the line item veto and did use it; 82 times. In 1998, the Supreme Court ruled that Congress did not have the authority to hand that power to the president.
Many of the vetoed programs went to court, many court challenges won their appeals. The Supreme Court case was brought on by both a Idaho potato growers' group and New York City. New York City sued to restore a provision that would have let the city and New York state raise taxes on hospitals and use the money to attract federal Medicaid payments.
The Snake River Potato Growers sued over Clinton's veto of a tax measure that would have allowed agricultural processors to defer capital gains taxes when they sell such facilities to farmers' cooperatives.
The line-item veto had been a hallmark of the GOP "Contract ON America," when Republicans took control of Congress back in '94, and was the only plank of that agenda that Clinton supported.
So, call me cynical, what the hell is this dumbass up to? The Supreme Court already said no. Maybe Bush thinks he can change that since he put two of his chroneys on the bench? Bush does not know when to stop when it comes to hording power.

The pentagon is telling us that the Iraq war is going well. Well? If the things that Murtha points out are true, the pentagon is full of shit. According to Murtha Iraq has 60 percent unemployment, oil production below prewar levels, and water service to only 30 percent of the population.
What would you do if you did not have a job, water to take a shower, or electricity to run your shaver?

I never watch the Oscars.....and tonight was no exception, but I did catch a few moments to support Jon Stewart, and I did just so happen to flip it on when George Clooney won for best supporting actor in "Syriana". His speech put a whole new spin on the Oscars for me, I've always seen it as self-congratulatory, and vein (which it is) but i guess there can be some positivity to it as well, check out the video of George's speech below:
Here is an article in the Los Angeles Times explaining the primary race in Tom Delay’s 22nd Congressional district. This is the first time in many years that Delay actually has to campaign for the seat.
Call me cynical, but I believe Delay will win. I will eat my shorts for dinner if I am wrong. But as long as we have those unreliable Diebold voting machines tallying the votes, Delay is a shoe-in.
Until I am allowed to actually see the source code (being a software engineer, I can actually understand that stuff) I will never have trust in any election. Because these machines are paid for using tax payer funds, the source code should be public domain and open to everybody. Until then, expect thugs like Delay to walk away unscathed.

take a look its posted on I Don't Know if its True But.......
You know its really "good" for the Duke that the bill he sponsored in '95 the "No Frills Prison Act" didn't pass. Now I had never heard of this bill until this article from the WaPo back in November, but I have to say I am a little sad for the first time in my life that a republican bill did not pass; especially with all the current republican scandals and indictments. Oh well.... I guess that the fact that the Duke, Scooter and the "The Hammer" will be watching TV while they get sexually molested buy their former marine deserter cell mates in Leavenworth will have to be enough to satisfy us.
I really love the fact that all of this is happening to the duke because he really had to have that antique commode.... I wish I could be there to ask him if it was worth it.
If you followed my posts over the last few months, you will notice that I tore Brownie a new asshole every chance I got. You may have already heard that the Associated Press has released a video showing the big meeting before the Katrina hit shore.
Yes, in an email, Brownie bragged that he looked fabulous with his new shirt from Nordstrom when he should have been more interested in helping the people of New Orleans. Yes, Brownie was/is a Bush chroney who should have never gotten the job. Yes Brownie’s claim to fame was running a horse club. However, after viewing this video, it became clear to that even though Brownie was incompetent, Brownie new the impact from the storm, shouted it out, and the Bushies were simply not interested.
In the big briefing meeting before storm, Bush just sat there and asked no questions. Brownie was saying the levees were going to collapse, and that the roof was not going to hold at the superdome. All Bush could do is give some 1-minute commentary at the end of the meeting… “Your doing a good job, tell the states we will help them.. blah, blah, blah…”.
Katrina hits; Bush is playing a guitar in San Diego. His visit caused a big Navel Hospital to close in San Diego, pissing of veterans who had all kinds of appointments from routine to major surgery. They all had to reschedule. What a pain in the ass. Four days later, Bush tells ABC News that he did not know the levees were going to break. A few days back Bush tells ABC News that he learned of Katrina's impact while watching TV at the ranch. What an incompentant bastard!
After viewing this tape, It boggles my mind on how anybody can support republicans. This tape alone should get every single republican thrown out? Why am I blaming congress? Well, they are up for re-election at the moment. And, over the last five years, the guys stood up lock-stock-and-barrel for this incompetent administration. At the moment, some of the lock-step guys are trying to distance themselves from the Bushie. I just say “screw it, throw them out”. I hope there is such a democrat landslide in November that no voter machine can justify any ‘glitches’.
So to Brownie, I say this. I still think you a chroney for the republicans. I still think you’re an incompetent chroney. However, I do apologize for shooting off my mouth without having known all the facts. That is something I don't take lightly. I pride myself on getting all the facts and never making shit up. However, I was working with the information I had. Had I known the facts, I more than likely would have defended you. I would have still been against the appointment. But for the lack of Emergency Management experience you seem to have, you tried your best to get this incompetent administration to act, and they failed.
Brownie, how dare you interrupt the Bushies month long vacation? You bastard! Now that these bastards have thrown you under the bus, do you still want to be a republican? Its time for Brownie to write a book. The title: What did Brown do for you?

being a Vespa nut and an enviromentalist I had to post this letter from Paolo Timoni, President and CEO of Piaggio Group Americas (AKA Vespa)
from Vespaquest
Piaggio has a full-page ad in today's New York Times. It's a letter from Paolo Timoni, President and CEO of Piaggio Group Americas - send it on to your mayor!
February 21, 2006
Open letter to all U.S. mayors concerned with America's oil consumption
To attain the ambitious goal of breaking America's "addiction to
oil," the President has recently focused on the need to invest in
alternative fuel technologies. However, there is also a behavioral
approach that could greatly reduce this nation's energy consumption,
while helping to preserve our environment and reduce traffic congestion.
The use of motor scooters - a daily behavior of millions of people
across Europe and Asia - is only marginally embraced in the United
States. Everyday in this country, millions of individuals drive their
cars in locations and situations where motor scooters would be
perfectly appropriate and convenient. Instead, if they were to utilize
one of the latest eco-friendly motor scooters available in the market
today - those compliant with the most stringent European and American
regulations on gas emissions - they would, on average, reduce their fuel consumption by 58%, their emissions of carbon monoxide by 90%, and their emissions of carbon dioxide by 80%.
With the launch of the first Vespa in 1946, our company started a
movement that has substantively improved transportation in countries
around the world. Consistent with the President's energy utilization
goals, we believe the time has come to expand the range of
transportation solutions also in the United States.
We encourage you to broaden the dialogue about energy self-sufficiency to include both technological solutions and behavioral ones, fostering acceptance of alternative transportation, such as scootering. With your support - as well as that of other federal, state and local government leaders - scootering would bring immediate and substantial economic and environmental benefits to Americans and the communities in which they live.
We remain at your disposal should you wish to discuss this opportunity further.
Sincerely,
Paolo Timoni
President and CEO

Muslim apologists can go fuck themselves
A German court on Thursday convicted a businessman of insulting Islam by printing the word "Koran" on toilet paper and offering it to mosques.
The 61-year-old man, identified only as Manfred van H., was given a one-year jail sentence, suspended for five years, and ordered to complete 300 hours of community service, a district court in the western German town of Luedinghausen ruled.
The conviction comes after a Danish newspaper printed cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad -- sparking violent protests around the world from Muslims who saw the images as sacrilegious and an attack on their beliefs.
What is under assault here is our most important freedom: the freedom of expression. Western civilization threw off the shackles of tyranny from religious zealotry centuries ago.
Besides, offensive speech is what needs to be defended to the end. After all, how can one point out injustice if it is illegal to offend? Making offensive speech illegal leads to, I dunno, the kind of 12th century shitholes currently at the center of this whole fiasco.
Making offensive speech and expression illegal makes societies possible where women are murdered for speaking out, or demanding their rights, or showing 2 inches of skin above their ankles.
Rather than apologizing to the Muslim world, we should be demanding that the Muslim world apologize to us for the deaths, and the fear, and the destruction, that their intolerance has caused.
And, just to prove my point, here's this gem:
If that offends, tough shit. As soon as I get an apology for the attack on freedom in Denmark, I'll pull the photo. Until then, fuck you.
__________________________________________________________________
are you serious with this bull shit? My head is swimming with examples of our personal freedoms being taken away buy current and former GOP administrations. first of all I apologize, you're right I cannot come up with an example as to when our freedoms of speech where taken away. oh except this one and this one but these are more examples of freedom of speech being insulted by the GOP.
What about other freedoms that are being slowly..... and not so slowly dissolved....such as our freedom to unreasonable search and seizure(this one too,or this one)or our freedom to a fair election? hey what happened to leze fair (sp?) government? you know invisable hand ? smaller government....?

see the video of Jon on Larry King below:
last night on countdown Mr. Fukuyama spoke with Nora O'Donnell
O‘DONNELL: What‘s stunning is that Fukuyama is one of the leading architects of neoconservatism. But three years after the invasion, he now says it was misused in Iraq.
FUKUYAMA: You know, conservatism is as American as apple pie. This is a long-standing tradition, this American idealism, to see ourselves as a model for the rest of the world.
O‘DONNELL (on camera): So what‘s wrong?
FUKUYAMA: You know, the problem, really, was the overmilitarization of the means. I think we‘ve spread democracy through political influence, through the example that we set, through funding.
O‘DONNELL (voice-over): In his new book, Fukuyama says the Bush doctrine, launching preemptive wars to defend America, it is now in shambles.
(on camera): How have your friends, other neoconservatives, reacted to you speaking out?
FUKUYAMA: I suspect a lot of people are sharpening their knives as we speak.
as Olbermann said even William F. Buckley says we should get out.

Every time I go through the airport, I shake my head and ask, "Are these people for real"?
So, after 9/11 they asked us for a fee increase on our plane tickets, I was glad to give it. These days, I don't feel any more safe. There are numerous documented financial abuses at the TSA over the last 5 years. Now, Chertoff is wanting more money out of us. I don't know about you, but I am tired of the TSA wasting our money. I am tired of TSA using the argument that they are keeping me safe. I am tired the government sticking their hand out for more money at every turn in the name of a fee increase.
Bush give it the tax cuts, only to charge common folk higher fees. In my mind, that is a tax increase no matter how you slice it or dice it.
mikeyP
First we get a no-bid contract, over charge the government, the government still pays me, the republicans say nothing, and act casual.
This is worse abuse than the Cadillac welfare mom the republicans made up in the 80s. To those republicans who hate money being wasted on welfare, why aren't you screaming about this corporate welfare abuse?

I have always had this thing about the right wing and Hillary. I could never understand NewsMax's hard-on for this woman. I swear, right wingers tell me Hillary is going to be the nominee in '08. At the same time left wingers tell me that they would not vote for Hillary in any primary unless there was not a better choice. Left wingers don't like Hillary ever so sly move to the right. Lefties especially don't like the fact that Hillary voted for the war and continues to support it. Hillary is one step below Joe Libberman. And I would rather deal with a republican than Joe Libberman. Opps, isn't Liberman and republican the same thing?
Hillary finally said what I have been saying for the last 5 years. Karl Rove has this big hard-on for Hillary Clinton.
mikeyP
I read this story on RawStory dot com However, this one of the issues I bring up when the democrats call me on the phone for monetary donations.
I am talking about that dreadful bankruptcy bill. It turns out that 97% of the people who file for bankruptcy these days are actually broke. Like the welfare mom driving the shiny black Cadillac in the 1980s, the deadbeats who try to escape their credit card debts actually don't exist. I take that back, they exist, but that is only less than 2% of the filers.
The welfare queen in the Cadillac was made up by the Reagan's in the 1980s. She was a fairy tale, She does not exists. When the republicans submitted this bill, their main motivation was to stop people from facing their responsibilities to their credit card debts. In agreement, I think that if you go on a shopping spree and fail to pay for it, you need to face the music.
However, According to the data, the masses of people going on shopping sprees and skipping out on their responsibilities are not around as much as they would like you to think.
Four out of five so-called deadbeats sought bankruptcy protection because of a job loss, catastrophic medical expenses, or the death of a spouse. In retrospect, the dems can not be blamed for the bankruptcy bill because they asked the republicans for a provision on medical expenses and the such. The GOP told the dems to piss off.
However, I still blame the dems on this catastrophe because when the rubber hit the road, a number of dems voted yes on the bill. This One of the main reasons I kindly remind phone solicitors as to why I stopped giving money to national democratic organizations. This is also one of those reasons that draws silence from the phone solicitor. not to mention the Medicare bill, and the lack of filibusters on crappy judges.
I am only going to contribute to local races in which I believe we can get results. I have been looking at the John Rinaldi race to unseat Duncan Hunter of California. I am just waiting for clues of what results can be obtained. With all the corruption in Washington, if the right team is in place, I believe that Hunter can be brought down. I can't wait for the news of Hunter being tied to corruption, I want to see how the campaign reacts. If things look good........ then I will donate money and time to that campaign.

I don't have A D D! I do talk about more than the port story... but I told you so. Did I not tell you that the Bushies will do what it takes to get the port story out of the news as they "renegotiate" . Scroll down.. you will see the post...
So, I guess the Bushies will take this time to get the republicans back on the reservation. I did find one cool-aid drinker here that has come back to the reservation.
This blogger, who is sick of tired of liberals, starts his post with "Hey Bush, WTF are you thinking? "... then he updates with "I have decided not to worry overmuch about this one". I guess he put the original post in before Rushie got to him?

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — A federal judge ordered the Pentagon on Thursday to release the identities of hundreds of detainees at Guantanamo Bay to The Associated Press, a move which would force the government to break its secrecy and reveal the most comprehensive list yet of those who have been imprisoned there.

So, the big story is still the ports. Because we are in an election year, we get to enjoy the swoop sound of republicans pulling their head out of their ass. But seriously, if you think about it, we have read this book before, saw the movie twice, and even bought the t-shirt.
Remember the patriot act? Republicans pulled their head out of their ass and told us they are against it. We got a 45 day break from the story because the bill was debated on the heels of the Senate Christmas break. The bill got put on hold and that is exactly what the white house wanted. The patriot act hub-hub died down and by the beginning of February the white house got a compromise. Guess what? We now have a patriot act once again. Actually the compromise is that democrats, including our not so beloved Diane Feinstein, caved. Democrats got nothing out of the deal, and we gave the US permission to spy on us. How comforting.
Wanna make any bets that we will see the patriot act sequel with the port deal? Wanna make bets Feinstein will be the first to cave. Without any research, I would bet money that Libberman has already caved. I predict that this hub-hub will go on a few more days, because somebody will make a deal to study it more closely. Then when 45 days are up, the media will, of course, be asleep at the wheel, the democrats will cave, and the Arabs will take over the eastern ports. How comforting. Where do I buy the t-shirt?
Thankfully, this bill won't affect California. This is because the left coasts are protected by various port commissions and districts that were put in place by a state law dating back to 1963. This means that California coasts are ran by Americans rather than the highest bidder.

"India's middle class is buying air-conditioners, kitchen appliances and washing machines, and a lot of them from American companies like GE and Whirlpool and Westinghouse. And that means their job base is growing here in the United States. Younger Indians are acquiring a taste for pizzas from Domino's, Pizza Hut,'' Bush said to laughs from the audience at a Washington hotel. ``Today, India's consumers associate American brands with quality and value, and this trade is creating opportunity at home.''

Thousands of U.S. soldiers sent to Iraq have suffered serious hearing damage from bombs, rocket explosions and other combat noise, a new Army study suggests.
Many of these injuries might have been prevented. But earplugs have been in short supply.

Republicans jump on board on a “No Duh” issue. I am talking about what everybody else is talking about; Port security. When Bush spouts off asking why we can let the British run the ports and not the Arabs, the answer is simple. The British government does not own the company that runs the ports. The Arab company proposed to run the ports are state ran by the UAE government. Not to mention the other stuff that people are talking about like the two hijackers from 911 were UAE citizens.
This belief that Frist and Boehner and Haskert got a touch of common sense is is nothing short of bullshit. Its an election year, they are pandering to November.
